NXP expands its pioneering 28 nm RFCMOS Radar One-Chip Family to support ADAS architectures for software-defined vehicles

In a significant leap forward for automotive radar technology, NXP Semiconductors N.V. (NASDAQ: NXPI) has announced the extension of its automotive radar one-chip family. The new SAF86xx radar SoC promises to redefine radar sensor capabilities, offering advanced features to optimize next-generation ADAS partitioning for software-defined vehicles.

This highly integrated radar SoC is designed to stream rich low-level radar sensor data at up to an impressive 1 Gbit/s, facilitating seamless transitions to new architectures. Leveraging the performance advantages of 28 nm RFCMOS technology, the SAF86xx radar SoC ensures significantly improved radar sensor capabilities, including extended detection range beyond 300 m and enhanced reliability in detecting small objects and vulnerable road users.

In addition, SAF86xx provides a complete solution to the needs of vehicle radars in terms of NCAP safety functions, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems and autonomous driving applications.
